Although this might not seem like the time to put your needs first as people might be telling you to think about sacrificing your ambitions to make sure you have a strong position within your company.
I am telling you otherwise.
This might be the time where you sit down and force yourself to relook at what you are doing with your life in terms of profession and see if it aligns with you.
If it does then congrats, you are in a pretty small group of those people who have found their purpose in their work.
If not then that is pretty common, most Malaysians are only at their work because of cultural and societal pressures, professional fear, and lack the drive to make that professional jump.
This might be the time to look within yourself for the courage you have always had and really put to paper a well thought plan of how you are going to reach there.
Here are a couple ways to get you started on how to best achieve that.
1. Look At What You Enjoy
Whether it be hobbies or your profession, find elements that you find enjoyable and something close and precious to your heart.
Whether you like being a leader in your football team or enjoy working closely with clients to help them reach their goals, take all these experiences and write them down.
They don't have to be money making skills.
They just need to be practices and aspects that you personally find enjoyable to do.
2. Research For Roles That Align
You might be tempted for those roles that pay the most or bring prestige to your life when others look at you but that would either leave you unhappy or disillusioned why you are in a profession for the sake of others.
This is your life and you are the only one living it. Take control, be accountability, and be responsible for it.
Look for those roles that you truly see yourself being happy at. With happiness comes the natural benefits of success and determination.
Don't be afraid to list them all out.
3. Reach Out & Find Out
Now is the time for a deep dive into the industries, roles, and potential companies that can offer you that opportunity to be happy in a profession that you are motivated to do.
Do this diligently and take your time. Don't rush into a big decision.
Make sure that you are clearly listing out the pros and cons that comes with every choice.
4. Make That Leap.
Start crafting your CV and respective job portal profiles and then begin applying.
Good luck.
