Whether it is a month long or just a simple weekend, making sure that these breaks help refocus and rejuvenate your body and mind is essential for the long term.

We all know that life can be both exhausting and exhilarating and it is important for you to have your own personal strategies to making sure that you attack the next challenge with a refreshed fervour.

Here are a couple tips I have for you to make this time productive and helpful:

1. Focus On Your Own Needs

Yes your friends might be dm-ing you throughout the week for a meetup at a cafe or for a nightly drink but what is best for you?

What might be best for you is a simple stay-in or a out of town hike. Think about this before you set your plans for your break so that you are following up on your own needs and not following other people's. You might find yourself wasting time and money on people that you don't really like and leaving you more tired for the challenge ahead.

If those people share your same passions and compliment your plans then those are the people that can make your original plan better and more memorable.

Find things and people that you align with.

2. Build Around Your Responsibilities

The natural easy choice is to focus on the fun things to do. Going cafe-hopping or shopping might bring you joy but if you ignore the weekend's must-dos then that will snowball straight into your work week. You don't need to do them all at once and immediately on Saturday morning but have them in your schedule and make them immutable so a sudden party can't push them off.

I know this sounds boring but to be an adult, it requires commitment and practice and having this sense of responsibility towards those things that need addressing can help you personally and professionally.

3. Keep Within Your Budget

A break might be a great time to finally pursue those objects and experiences that you have dreaming about.

But if it can make you broke then keep on dreaming.

Nothing in this world is worth going bankrupt for so make sure that you plan ahead of this break, do the necessary research, and have a specific savings goal so that maintain financial responsibility throughout this break.

Here are my top 3 tips for making sure a break is optimised and effective.
