With Tuesday's announcement from the Government, many Malaysians are having their working lives disrupted by working from home or a type of split operations as well as a range of other policies to reduce unnecessary human contact.
As I unable to take the Work From Home option but I am still responsible for my own actions and therefore will do a couple things to reduce contact. Here are a couple tips for others who can't take this option but still want to play their part.
1. Takeaway or BYO Lunches I know getting out of the office can be a reward in of itself by being under the sun or even breathing fresh air but now is not that time.
For lunch, having lunch in the office can cut down unnecessary contact with all those people and colleagues you might meet. Maybe treat yourself to a nice long YouTube series to give you that extra little treat for you taking action to be part of the solution and not the problem.
2. Avoid Peak Hours Of Travelling Whether it be coming in a bit earlier or leaving later, if it means avoiding a whole crowd of people on the train or just on the streets then it is a worthy sacrifice. It might not seem like a meaningful step to take but if means avoidable how many dozens of people than it have a huge impact on keeping strict to the Government's plan of action.
Transitioning from public transport to driving might be a tougher most due to the dramatic increase in cost so making sure you are as safe and responsible as possible is paramount.
3. Manage Unnecessary Meetings
The meeting might be with only one other person but if you can maintain a healthy distance from the maximum amount then you are playing your part.
Many things can be done through online means so the need for the meeting can be reduced greatly regardless of the project. It means that your messaging has to be concise, direct, and clear so that your teammates can understand your comments straightaway.
This could be a unique chance to improve your digital communications to make you a more modern worker or manager for future projects.
